ALLIED CONVOY ATTACKED
SEVERAL ENEMY PLANES
Rugby, March 9 Between 50 and 60 enemy aircraft made a strong attack on an Allied convoy off the North African coast last night, states a correspondent at Allied headquarters in Italy. French pilots engaged' the first wave and shot down one JUBB. R.A.F. Beaufighters joined in and shot down one D 0217, two JUBB and one HEI77. We lost two planes. The convoy was not damaged. PARTISANS ON YUGOSLAV FRONT (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) London, March 9. To-day’s communique from Partisan headquarters reports that the Allied Air Force in the past few days intensified activities on the Dalmatian coast Six small German naval ships have been sunk and landing barges and railway engines destroyed. In western Bosnia heavy fighting is in progress The enemy is bringing up strong reinforcements. In Croatia, near Petringa, ail enemy attacks were repulsed A German column attempting to break through into liberated territory from Ogulin, was beaten back.
