HOME GUARD REUNION
GOLDEN BAY BATTALION For the last time, the officers and men of. “A” Company, Golden Bay Battalion, donned their uniform and met together for a smoke concert in the Masonic Hall, Takaka. For over 12 months this battalion has been part of the new Bays Battalion, but on this occasion the old name seemed to come more easily to everyone’s lips. # The hall was crowded with an attendance of well over 100, including men from the Collingwood Company and many ex-servicemen and servicemen on leave. Major Campbell, C.O. of the Bays Battalion occupied the chair and was assisted by Captain Robertson, D.C.M., who was formerly in command of the old Golden Bay Battalion. A very happy evening was spent with toasts, songs, and interesting reminiscences of the ups and downs of the Home Guard. The organisers. Captain C. P. Reilly, Lt. J. M. Cashman, and S/M P. R.! Reilly, deserved all the praise they received for their successful work. J Apologies were received from Colonel Cock. Col. Moore, CaDt. Grace, Captain Williams, Captain Wood, and all the Headquarters Staff.
