COVENTRY CATHEDRAL
SCHEME FOR REBUILDING (Rec. 9.50 a.m.) London, Feb. 7. A scheme for re-building Coventry Cathedral announced to-day embodies a plan whereby Anglican and Free Churches will co-operate As an essential part of the scheme but outside the cathedral itself there will be an inter-denominational Christian centre witf t- mvn chapel idioining the cu thedral. Through this scheme Anglican and Free Church leaders will co-oper-ate in a work to serve the whole community.
The scheme has been approved by the Cathedra] Council and the Coventry Free Church Federal Council. The architect is Sir Giles Gilbertscott, and the plan includes a church with a central altar The existing tower which survived destruction in the German air raid will be incroporated in the scheme
The cathedral itseli will oelong to the Church of England which will have sole control of the services. An endowment fund will be set up to staff both the ’athedral and the Christian centre.
