In the debate on rebuilding the House of Commons 28 M’b.P. made speeches. Only one, I see from Hansard, gave way to the temptation to misquote John Bright by describing the House ag the Mother of Parliaments. Bright in one of his famous speeches said, “England is the Mother of Parliaments.”—(“Peterborough” in London “D*Hy Telegraph.”)
