FEATS SINCE THE OUTBREAK OF WAR Melbourne, Jan. 12. Since Japan entered the war A Wed air forces in the South West Pacific have destroyed 2682 enemy aircraft, probably destroyed 823 and damaged 808. said the Minister of Air. Mr Drakeford, to-night. R.A.A.F. casualties to date in all theatres of the war numbered 7764, of whom 3899 were killed, had died or were presumed dead. More than 8000 members of the R.A.A.F. were on active service in theatres of war outside the South-West Pacific and a vast majority were air crew. Since, the outbreak of war in Europe Australian airmen won 1272 decorations and awards for gallantry, including three Victoria Crosses, 501 D.F.C.’s and 268 D.F.M.’s.
