Richards, * Wellington, which took place yesterday 1 afternoon in the Taranaki Street Wes- * leyan Church. £ Mr Haslam, an almost life-long friend f of Mr Richards and a former president of the Methodist Conference, in a tribute said Mr Richards was the earliest contribution of the Australian church to the ministry in New Zealand, and throughout his 40 years’ service he was held in high esteem as a preacher and pastor. He was a well-reaa man, ( with a flair for apt quotation, and had < a winning personality. He was success- \ ful as a circuit minister, his longest | i term in one ministry being 10 years at Napier. He also held the esteem of j the conference, shown by the fact that he was chairman of three districts at c different times, and as such displayed c his gift for administration. He had lived a full, rich life, and, while of recent years he had not enjoyed good health, he had known much happiness, c and had passed to his reward with the ' knowledge of duty well and faithfully f done.
