NEW ZEALANDER SHOOTS DOWN FOCKEWULF

(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) London, Jan. 10. Wing-Commander R. D. Yule, D.F.C. and bar, of Invercargill, leading a Spitfire wing, recently flew to the rescue of an isolated * Flying Fortress being attacked by two Fw.l9o’s. Yule shot down one Fw. “We were at about 22,000 feet when we saw them,” he said. “After my attack flames came out underneath his cockpit. I saw his parachute open later.” Yule, who is a Battle of Britain pilot, is another New Zealander who has proved himself a fine fighter and leader. —P.A. Special Correspondent.
