SUPREME ALLIED COMMANDER
HEADQUARTERS IN LONDON New York, Nov. 24. “The appointment of General Marshall as supreme Anglo-American commander is expected to follow the perfection of plans for the closest co-operation between the Russian High Command and Allied forces which General Marshall will head,” says the Associated Press of America. “There is every expectation in Washington that General Marshall will establish his headquarters in London before the end of the year. It is believed that General Eisenhower will succeed General Marshall as chief of staff.” A bill for the construction of 1,000,000 tons of landingcraft and 2500 tons of auxiliary vessels was introduced into the House of Representatives by the chairman of the Naval Committee, Mr Vinson. Similar legislation was introduced in the Senate. The Associated Press of America said that the proposed measure indicated large-scale plans for future invasion operations by American armies.
