FASCIST ASSASSINATED
INCIDENT IN ITALIAN TOWN (Rec. 10.35 a.m.) London, Nov. 25. Lorries loaded with Fascist soldiers fighting incessantly drove through Ferrara when reprisals were ordered for the assassination a week ago of Ferrara’s Fascist delegate Chisseline, says the Swiss newspaper “Libera Stampa,” and adds that Pavolini, secretary-gener-al of the new Fascist Party, ordered the reprisals. Workers were shut in factories, pedestrians hurried home, where doors and windows were barred. About 300, whose attitude to the new Fascist Party was doubtful, were taken from offices, factories and homes and imprisoned in a mediaeval castle. Twelve of them were taken to the castle’s court and shot in the back with revolvers without trial. Fascist soldiers guarded the corpses all night in the square outside the castle. Several prominent citizens were found in the morning among the dead.
