MARINE WAR RATES
ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS Wellington, Nov. 23. Local advices have been received of the following alterations or additions to the schedule war rates. Previous rates are shown in brackets:—The Nw Zealand coastal rate is reduced from 10s per cent, to 5s per cent.; New Zealand and Pacific Islands to or from South America (Atlantic and Pacific ports) via Cape 74 per cent. (8 per cent.); to or from West Indies via Cape 7£ per cent. <8 per cent.), via Mediterranean 9 per cent. (10 per cent.); via Panama 4 per cent. (5 per cent.); New Zealand to or from Persian Gulf 5 per cent. (6 per cent.); to or from Africa north and west of Cape Palmas (including islands) 7 per cent (8 per cent.); Madagascar, Reunion Mauritius, direct 5} per cent. (0 per cent.); Aden, Red Sea, Suez, Port Said, Alexandria 6 per cent. <6£ per cent.): Mediterranean, east of Alexandria and Turkey, 7 per cent. <74 per cent.); New Guinea, south coast 3£ per cent. (4 per cent.), north coast, not north of Orabay 4 per cent.; India, west of Cape Comorin, including Ceylon 5 per cent. (6 per cent.); east of Cape Comorin, but not east of Chittagong 6 per cent. (6 per cent.); Pacific Islands 3J per cent. (4 per cent.); New Zealand to or from Australia (not north 25deg. east coast, or 20deg. west coast) and Tasmania 2 per cent. (3 per cent.). BRITISH GOVERNMENT RATE The British Government marine war risk rate came down yesterday from
£6£ per cent, to £ss per cent, from the United Kingdom to New Zealand and vice versa.
