BUILDING TRADE WORKERS

DISSATISFACTION IN AUCKLAND Auckland, This Day. Dissatisfaction has arisen among building trade workers in Auckland owing to the revoking of the essential building workers’ labour legislation Order, 1943, No. 1, which provided for travelling time and fares. This action, taken by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. Webb, will result in the loss to workers of 4d daily in fares and a quarter of an hour’s travelling time, equal to 9}d in some cases, or approximately 6s 6d weekly in the aggregate. A mass meeting of building trade workers will be held in the Town Hall on Friday morning to discuss questions arising out of the revocation order. Those attending will include carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, plasterers, roof tilers, painters and timber workers.
