“BLITHE SPIRIT”
SEASON ENDS TO-NIGHT The third night’s performance of Noel Coward’s improbable farce (as he describes it) “Blithe Spirit,” produced by the Nelson Repertory Club, attracted a packed house which was thoroughly appreciative of every ethereal unreality. Those who fancy dabbling in psychics may claim there is visible proof of their belief, but are there any cynics who will admit themselves partially converted by the ghostly flittings of the late wives of Charles Condomine? Music by Mr Clarrie Lee’s c-rchestra provides a fitting background both during the show and between scenes. “Blithe Spirit” will be presented for the fourth and last time of the season, to-night, and it would be a pity for any-one-to miss the chance to say in later days: “Oh, yes! I have actually seen a ghostr-two in fact, and I must say that in ‘Briffie Spirit’ they caused quite a packet of trouble and inconvenience.” The stage setting for the play was painted and arranged by members of the club whose efforts achieved a pleasing and effective result. The two pictures on thc walls were specially painted for the play by Mr W. H. Allen.
