100 SUCCESSIVE WEEKS
TAKAKA REACHES WAR SAVINGS QUOTA The chairman of the National War Savings Committee, Wellington, has forwarded a telegram to the Takaka Patriotic Committee congratulating the National war savers in Takaka and members of the local corrfmittee, “on reaching a century of quota successes in 100 weeks.” PURAMAHOI SOCIAL The Puramahoi Hall was well filled when a farewell dance was given in honour of Mr Rex Soper who is joining the Navy. Mr A. Rose, county chairman, wished the guest the best of luck from the residents of the county and commented on the splendid record of war service of the Soper family. Mr M. Couper expressed the pride that was felt in Puramahoi in having such a patriotic family in their midst, and congratulated Rex on the step he had taken in joining the Navy. He asked the guest to accept a gift from the residents of Puramahoi. Mr Soper, who was accorded’musical honours, said that he would try to live up to all the complimentary remarks made about him and expressed thanks for the gift. Mr M. Couper as M-C. kept the dance going brightly to the music of Mr and Mrs R. Bensemann. During the evening a Monte Carlo waltz was won by Sgt. Wells and Mrs R. James. A delicious supper was supplied by the ladies.
