AUSTRALIAN BROWNOUT
(Rec. 9.40 a.m.) Canberra, This Day. Relaxation in Australia’s brownout, subject to certain conditions, have been announced. The relief covers all areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn, but all lights showing to seaward must be screened. Arrangements to extinguish all unnecessary external lights and to allow the blackout to be imposed at very short notice must be continued. The Tropic of Capricorn runs through Rockhampton on the North Queensland coast.—P.A.
