FRESIDENT VETOES FOOD SUBSIDIES BILL RUGBY, July 2.—ln a message to the American Congress President Roosevelt vetoed the Food Subsidies Bill A correspondent says the Predent declared the bill an inflationary bill, a high cost of living bill and a food shortage bill, and said it would make it impossible for the Government to stop the cost of living going up under it. The housewife would have to pay more for butter and meat and the measure would have a devastating effect on their economy and the war effort. The President held up Britain as an example of how limited subsidies could be used to control inflation. A Washington message says that the House of Representatives has upheld the President's veto. This automatically kills the bill. —8.0. W. SOVIET BOMBERS ACTIVE RUGBY, July 2.- Soviet bombers are keeping up their attacks on German supply ports in the Crimea.
