NEW GOVERNMENT OF EIRE

DE VALERA THE LI&ELY LEADER London, June 28. Whether Mr de Valera will head the new Government of Eire will not be known till Ist July, when the new Dail meets. Mr de Valera seems to be a unanimous choice for Prime Minister. Instability is likely under another leader, in the absence of firm agreement among the opposing parties. One point which is causing uneasiness among his opponents, is the Prime Minister’s power to dissolve the Dail and call another election. Mr de Valera has said that it now remains for the Dail to elect a Prime Minister who will determine the Government. The leader of the main Opposition, Mr W. T., Cosgrave, was equally guarded, stating that the laissez faire policy of the past 11 years must be put aside and replaced by constructive effort.—P.A.
