DAWN RAIDS BY U.S. PLANES (Rec. 11.25 a.m.) Rugby, June 28. The United States Navy Department states: “Army Liberators early on Sunday bombed Buin area and Munda, New Georgia, while navy 1 .iterators carried out attacks against Ballale in the Shortland area. The result of these attacks were not observed. Before dawn navy Avengers bombed Rekata Bay. Santa Isabel island, and navy Dauntless Avengers attacked Munda. Hits were scored on the runway and revetment area. Dauntless Avengers attacked Vila Kolombangara. Hits were scored 0 n the runway and camp area. “On Saturday army Liberators, Mit chells and Venturas escorted by Lightnings and Warhawks, bombed and straf ed Kiska. Hits were scored among anti aircraft emplacements and n the run way. Eight fires were started ir. the camp area.”—B.O.W
