ENEMY AERODROMES RAIDED
SEVERAL OTHER TARGETS BARGES SUNK IN BLACK SEA (Rec 9 a.m.) London, June 24. Last night Soviet long-range bombers raided enemy aerodromes, according to an official statement broadcast by Moscow radio. A considerable number of German planes was destroyed or on the ground. A railway junction at Pskov was subjected to a severe shattering bombardment. The whole area of the junction was ringed with flame. Stores of ammunition and fuel, as well as many trains were set on fire. The fires were accompanied by a big explosion. Two Soviet planes did not return. Soviet ships in the Black Sea sank two enemy motor landing barges. On the central front a Soviet reconnaissance detachment obtained valuable information about enemy defences. Soviet reconnaissance groups were also active on other parts of the front. A partisan detachment operating in the Kursk province fought stubborn battles for several days against a German punitive expedition. They inflicted heavy losses and forced the Germans to retreat P.A.
