OVERCOME BY SMOKE

BODY FOUND BY NEIGHBOURS Cambridge, May 2. A resident of Cambridge was found lying dead beside a garden fire at his residence in Hall street this afternoon. He was Mr James Bright, hardware manager, widower, aged 53. Having observed that a rubbish fire in the middle of long, dry grass on Mr Bright’s property was apparently out of control at about 3 p.m.. neighbours were endeavouring to extinguish it when they found Mr Bright lying face downward in the grass. Parts of his clothing and body were burned. It appeared that Mr Bright had been overcome by smoke while trying to control the fire. An inquest will be opened before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., to-morrow morning—P.A.
