TRAM SMASH IN SYDNEY
ABOUT 50 PEOPLE INJURED Sydney, April 30. In one of the worst smashes ever known in the city, about 50 people were injured to-day. A runaway tram, travelling at 40 miles an hour, crashed into the rear of another which was stationary. Both trams were packed with people, many of whom received facial injuries from flying pieces of jagged glass. Most of those injured were sent to hospital. The runaway tram refused to respond to the driver’s attempts to cut off the power.—P.A.
