DEMAND BY US. MINERS* LEADER
NEW YORG, April 30.—Mr John Lewis, Miners' Leader, sent a letter to Mr Roosevelt renewing the demand for combined negotiations through collective bargaining which Mr Lewis aalleges coal employers wilfully blocked. Mr Lewis did not mention the strike threat, nor did he mention whether the coalminers were complying with the I 'resident’s order to return to work.—PA. 21 AUSTRIANS EXECUTED LONDON, April 30—Twenty- one Austrians were sentenced to death in April for high treason, says an independent French agency. They were charged with publishing and distributing anti-German propaganda and organising sabotage groups. This brings the number of Austrians executed since the end of November to 138, counting only those whose death sentences have been published.— FA. CJ.C.
