“NEVER GREATER THAN NOW”
MR FRASER CHAMPIONS BRITISH PEOPLE (Fronv Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. Whatever might be the source of any statement preaching the possible degeneracy of the British people he was going to reject it entirely, said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. in the House of Representatives last evening. When referring to remarks made by Sir Apirana Ngata (Nat., Eastern Maori), the Prime Minister said he did not think the British people were ever grander or greater than at present. It had been said that Britain did not produce men like those great men who had served in India in the past. There were men in India to-day who were just as great. He questioned whether there had ever been a greater soldier in India than Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell, a man of great ability, humble and capable.
