NEW COAL AREA
Westport, This Day. The Westport Coal Company is preparing to develop a new area of coal located by boring on “Cook’s” lease adjoining their present holdings. The coal is bituminous, of high class quality, and over 30f{ in thickness. It is proposed to run an aerial from the mine down to Waimangaroa, there to connect with the railway.—P.A.
