PETROL CANCELLED

SOLDIERS ON FINAL LEAVE Several complaints have been received recently from members of the armed # forces going overseas that they have been refused the extra allowance of petrol usually granted to men on final leave. An official of the Post Office at Auckland yesterday confirmed the fact that such allowances had been cancelled by direction from the oil fuel controller in Wellington unless the applicants could show that the petrol was intended for use in a district which was not within reasonable distance of a regular train or bus route.
