PATENT MEDICINES
REGULATIONS REVOKED IN AUSTRALIA Canberra. March 6 The House of Representatives has disallowed the Government's proorietarv medicine regulations gazetted last October ano giving the Minister of Health. Mr Hollow’ay wide powers over the manufacture and advertising of patent medicines. Cabinet is expected to freeze al< drug? and chemicals as the result of the disallowance. Such action would greatly limit the output of proprietary medicine companies. The Government’s defeat on such a minor issue i? not vital. For the first time the two Victorian Independents. Messrs Coles ant Wilson. vo 4 cd together against the Government *o secure the disallowance of the regulations, which were challenged by the Opposition on the grounds that they were an abuse of power and did nothing to assist in the prosecution of the war
