ALL SAINTS' PARISH

FAREWELL TO REV. AND MRS LEANING After the service at All Saints* Church last evening, a number of parishioners gathered in the parish hall to farewell the Rev. and Mrs V. O. Leaning who are leaving the parish. Archdeacon O. J. Kimberley presided at the function and spoke in high terms of the work done by the Rev. Mr Leaning during his two years in All Saints’ parish.

On behalf of the young people of the Bible classes and Sunday schools, Miss M. Tibbie wished the Rev. and Mrs Leaning every success and happiness in the future.

The people’s churchwarden, Mr K. Grooby, expressed appreciation and best wishes on behalf of the parishioners and called upon Mrs Kimberley to hand to Mr Leaning a monetary gift. On Wednesday last the parishioners of St. Stephen’s Church, Tahunanui, ajso entertained the Rev. and Mrs Leaning at a farewell evening. Mr H. J. Sharp, the Sunday school superintendent. expressed the good wishes of the parishioners and appreciation of the work which Mr Leaning had done in the parish.

The opportunity was taken to give the Rev. and Mrs Leaning a "kitchen” evening and they received many useful gifts. The evening’s programme included musical items, community singing and supper.
