SISTER KENNY FETED

New York, Jan. 30,

Sister Kenny and the mayor of New York, Mr La Guardia, cut a huge birthday cake at a Roosevelt birthday party given by the New York City Council. They handed the first slices to two children who, as a result of the Kenny treatment, had recovered from paralysis. Mr La Guardia in a speech hailed Sister Kenny’s achievements.

Sister Kenny expressed happiness at being able to bring the treatment to America. She added: “But for America’s help we Australians might now be Japanese subjects.” Later in the evening, she was the guest of honour at a fashionably birthday ball in th e Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where 5000 were present.—P.A.
