OBITUARY
MR JOSEPH WILLIAM THOMAS The dbath occurred recently of Mr Joseph William Thomas, of "Waireka,” Belgrove, who was a well known and highly respected resident of the district. Born in Belgrove in 1872 he was the j eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs j David Thomas. The late Mr Thomas, | I who spent all his life in sawmilling j I and farming, took an active part in both until a few years ago, when, owing ; to poor health he had to give up his j j business, which is now being carried j i on by his two sons and a brother. Mr Thomas was a member of the , Order of Odd Fellows. When a young man he was a keen rifle shot and i cricketer. Mr Thomas is survived by his widow, 1 one daughter, Mrs James Wyllie (Net- “ son), and two sons, Messrs David F. S Thomas and Albert Thomas, both of §j Belgrove. and nine grandchildren. Miss M Thomas and Mrs Arthur Kerr, of Bel- H grove, are sisters, and Mr David H. j§ Thomas, also of Belgrove, a brother. =
