TWO PEOPLE INJURED Dunedin, Dec. 20 Painful injuries were received by ; young married woman and her father in-law at St. Clair yesterday afternooi when a bullet fired from a .303 riff penetrated a closed window. They wen Mr James William McLay, railway em ployee. and Mrs Margaret McLay. At about 3.15 they were seated in th sitting-room of Mr McLay’s home, 3' Coughtrey street, St. Clair, when tin bullet came through the window,.caus ing lead splinters to fly into the room striking the victims. Both were takei to hospital, where their condition wa reported as not dangerous. Inquiries showed that the bullet hat come through two paling fences befori striking the window. The rifle wa traced to the possession of a youth ii the neighbourhood, and was one is sued to a Home Guard unit.—P.A.
