“SECRECY” OF SMUTS’S SPEECH
PRESS OBEYS: BBC. MAKES BROADCAST London, Oct. 21. The "Daily Telegraph” says injunctions were issued to the Press that General Smuts’s speech could not be published until he had finished speaking. The Press observed the instruction, but now it is disclosed that the speech was broadcast in a 8.8. C. shortwave service direct from the meeting, thus rendering the secrecy observed by the Press ineffective.—P.A.
