After the meeting had pa* - ? ed a vote of sympathy to Mr Allan anU J 1 family, Mrs A. Wells <vice-president», • , paid a tribute to the memory of their J i friend and co-worker. Mrs Allan had • . always been a loyal member of her \ own church, the Church of Christ. At J the same time, during all the years of • j her residence in Mapua she had beer. ; r a regular attendant at and supporter • ’ of the Presbyterian Church. She was t ! one of the foundation members of the * 1 Ladies’ Guild taking an active interest \ in the building of the church, and for • 1 a considerable period had held the office • > of secretary and treasurer. Mrs Allan * . was well known as a tireless collec- • f tor for the British and Foreign Bible I > Society, a member of the Lady Galway • . Guild who had done a great deal of l unobtrusive work, sewing, etc., in her * own home; and also a good helper of • . the Plunket Society. Above aH, sUp : was a humble and sincere follower m • Jesus Christ, and at all times fearleSs 1 and outspoken for what she believed • to be right and true and good. After this, the afternoon's programqjie * continued, musical and other items * ing listened to with quiet appreciation. ; Mrs H. Dawson sang to her own ! pianoforte accompaniment two son£. , “A Little Dutch Garden" and “King * Solomon and King David.” and later in ! the programme another entitled "Whep * April Sings.” Mrs M. Wells also sang to her own accompaniment on the steel guitar two songs, “Still the Night” and The Stranger of Galilee.” "** An interesting and amusing reading entitled, "Moving In.” was given ‘Jpv Mrs G. Fraser, and Miss Walter pleased the gathering with two piano solos. Tea was served during the afternoon and a "Bring and Buy’’ stall was cleaJE ed of its goods.
