TRAINING OF CHILDREN

TEACHERS’ SUGGESTIONS Wanganui, Oct. 21. The need for closer study of character training and child delinquency was again stressed at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, when letters from six other education boards in the Dominion agreed with the suggestion that the matter should be fully discussed and representations made to the Government. The Wanganui Head Teachers’ Association reported that something should be done to eliminate anti-social habits found among children. A list of suggestions that would help in this direction included supervision of the amount ol pocket-money allowed children, supervision of the use of leisure time, a closer watch by parents of the type ol films attended by their children, the supplying of attractively and judiciously planned cut lunches, and also giving children some responsibility in the care of property. Commending the association for - its suggestions, the board decided that circulars on these lines be sent to parents of school children.
