ACTION NECESSARY
STABILISATION POLICY GOODS, COSTS, PRICES. RENTALS j AND WAGES PRIME .MINISTER’S WARNING Wellington, This Day. The necessity lor a stabilisation policy was mentioned in the House of Reprv sen tatives by the Prime Minister 'Mi P. Fraser» lasi night when he was speaking in the econd reading debate of the Fair Rents Amendment Bill. He said the Bill before the House was not going to solve all rental problems. Tie Member for Auckland East, Mr F. W Schramm, had brought up the question of office rents which were exceeding economic values. Because of the great extension of Government offices it was clear that the question of office rentals and of rentals of all kinds had to be dealt with, said Mr Fraser, but he I did not think it could be dealt with in | a Bill dealing with fair rents. It must lie* part of a general j stabilisation programme that will deal with all goods, costs, prices, j rentals, wages and all other matters that can and ought to be controlled ' for the rest of the war.” said Mr Fraser. j The Prime Minister said he was i si caking to the country as well as to J the committee of the House when he ' said that if they did not take action they would inevitably land the country Sin disaster. He believed that action [ would be taken along the lines o 1 | stabilisation. If that were not done the i country would not maintain the sta ; bility of its economic system or the | standard of living of the people.
