NEW RATION BOOKS

ISSUE PROCEEDING SLOWLY The issue of new ration books is proceeding slowly in Nelson, only 4.400 having been issued by the close of business last night. In the first three days of the issue of the first books, 7.700 were issued locally. Special staff and facilities for the issue of the new books have been made available at the Chief Post Office. Nelson, this week, and it is hoped by the rationing authorities that members of the public will make application for their new books and ration cards as soon as possible before the end of the month. The issuing officers have been caused considerable inconvenience and delay by the neglect of some people to fillir. their names and addresses on the O counter-

foil-of their old books as has been requested. The public is reminded of this requirement and that, in the case of all children under 17 years of age. the date of birth must be entered on the counterfoil. It will be found that no provision has been made for “T” coupons in the children’s books, which means that children under the age of 10 years will not be entitled to a tea ration, while an additional clothing allowance will be made available to all children five years of age and over but under 17 years of age on Ist January, 1943.
