UNCUSTOMED U S. CIGARETTES

POSSESSOR FINED £25 Wellington, This Day. A fine of £25 was imposed by the Magistrate, Mr Goulding, on Nicholas Hrstich who was charged last week with being in possession of 1,740 uncustomed American cigarettes. The case had been adjourned to enable Hrstich to appear, and he offered the same explanation as in the original statement to the police that the cigarettes had been left with him by some Americans for safe keeping.—P.A.
