MINING
ALEXANDER Mine report of Alexander Mines, Limited, for the month of September:— Development: No. 6 level N.E. drive was resumed and to date 10 feet in hard country rock have been driven. Stoping: Stoping as usual has been carried out in all the stopes, and the necessary amount of filling and pass building completed. As previously pointed out. the stone has a tendency to narrow in the highest stope. Tonnage fo»- the month was 158 tons of clean ore. General: During the month, we nad our fair share of electrical storms, etc., and operations were held up on two occasions for a day through lack of power; however, the plant is now running very well. Gold returns of Alexander Mines Limited for September:— Battery Department: 153 tons of ore were crushed for 420 z 15dwts of melted gold; estimated value, £330. Cyanide Department; This has not been cleaned up. In addition: Concentrates were saved amounting to 2.75 tons valued at £9O. In estimating the above values, gold has been taken at 160 s per fine ounce
