Morris is a training officer at an aviation settlement near the Canal Zone. Hubbard is a society playboy. ;i civilian pilot, who joins up in the hope of finding . some excitement. Their tend is heightened by their mutual interest in 1 Miss Hilliard, who appears as the commandant's daughter, lone white woman in the lonely tropical outpost. "Canal Zone" blends an exciting romance triangle with a power-diving story of flaming adventure. Primarily concerned with the men who crash the clouds in flying fortresses. | where each dawn brings new thrills and ' each dusk new romance, it was directed with suspenseful skill by Lew Landers. . whose record of action-full hits is one of Hollywood's (finest. State, screening Wednesday and Thursday: “Tlie Baroness and the Butler." with William Powell and Annabella. Bill is the perfect butler. Annabella is the perfect lads, and they’re perfectly’ sensational together. “The Baroness and the Butler" has been made into one of the screen’s , gayest and brightest romantic-comedy sensations. It's easy to understand why the suave William Powell is swept off his feci, because the beauty and dramatic fire of Annabella soars to new heights in the first picture she has made for 20th Cen-tury-Fox. A strong cast includes Helen ■ Westley. Henry Stephenson. Joseph Schildkraut. J. Edward Bromberg, Nigel Bruce and Lynn Bari. The antidote for wai Time blues is laughter, and picturegoers will get plenty from "The Farmer's Wife.” a famous farce of village courtship. The revel turns on the successive efforts of , ( Sam Sv.ectland. widower and fanner, to J bring three local ladies to the altar, efforts which are unavailing until his courage with a runaway bull. In the moment of crisis he sees that it is Araminta. his quiet and efficient housekeeper, who would make an ideal wife. At last wc have a prizefight yarn that everyone will enjoy "The Miracle Kid" is just that. After piomising his fiance. Carol Hughes, to quit the ring after one more light, Tom is labelled “Kid Hex” by sports writers, after his opponent claims he had lost by ! reason of Tom's voodoo powers.
