POLICY TOWARDS ENEMIES
UNITED STATES’ DEFINITION New York, Oct. 3. The "New York Times” correspondent in Washington says that America’s policy toward her enemies involves neither threats of destruction of nations or peoples nor premature reliance upon potential friends within the enemy countries, according to Mr Elmer Davis the Director of War Information. ‘Our attitude toward Japan is substantially that of the former Ambassador, Mr Grew, that Japan must be defeated. but that we hope that there are friendly Japanese with whom we can deal,” he says. “Our broadcasts refrain from reflection upon the Emperor, who we believe has been deceived by his military advisers.
“We hope there is a residue of reluctant followers of the Nazis in Germany, but we cannot assume the existence of such persons till they show themselves in action.”
