CONCERTS IN LINE

Cairo, Aug. 31. The Commander of the Eighth Army. Lieutenant-General Montgomery, has directed that small concert parties should visit the men in the front line. “It will help them to forget the heat and flies for a while, and a good laugh helps to maintain high morale,” he says. The General suggests that the danger of assembling men. which has prevented organised entertainment in forward positions, can be overcome by gatherings in deep wadis and other sheltered places. Concert parties will each consist of two men and two women. Several have already volunteered. Their stage will be the lorry in which they travel.
