U.S. MARINES

TRAINED FOR AMPHIBIOUS OPERATIONS Washington, Aug. 10. In connection with United States marine participation high marine officials said it was well known that the marines were specially trained for amphibious operations and were stationed in that general area. However, so far they have been unable to reveal whether or not they participated in this specific action. These marines have self-propelled landing boats, also tanks and artillery.—P.A.
