HOW TO RECOGNISE AIRCRAFT
19 Type 95 Reconnaissance Seaplane.— This aircraft is of the type most commonly used for catapult launching. Although described as a reconnaissance aircraft, it might carry bombs. and would be armed with machine-guns.
trPE n_. Principal Structural Features.— It is a single radial-cngined biplane mounted on a single large float with two small wing-tip floats. The wings are moderately staggered, and the leading edge of the top wing is tapered to rounded tips. The leading edge of the lower wing and the trailing edges of both wings arc straight. The inter-plane struts, whicn arc mourned near the wing-tips, are N-shaped. with short struts from the side of the fuselage to the top wing. A large canoe-shaped float is mounted directly beneath the fuselage by means of four short, sturdy struts. Two small floats are mounted near the tips of the lower wing. There are two cockpits. Special Recognition Points.—Short, blunt sc (radial engine', single large main float directly below Ihe fuselage, two small wing floats, leading edge of top wing tapered Float projects bcvon dnosc to marked degree. Dimentions. Span 30ft lin. length 27ft 11 in. or about the same size as the Hawker Hind.
