DEHYDRATED MEAT

POPULAR WITH PUBLIC London, Aug. 7. Experiments carried out by the Ministry of Food in collaboration with 100 restaurants, hotels, canteens, and “British restaurants” prove that dehydrated or dried meat is popular with the general public. AH reports state that the new dish “went down well.” Eight customers at one restaurant were told the difference and asked whether they preferred the dishes made with normal or with dried mutton. Seven of them preferred the latter. At every restaurant customers said they would not have known the difference between the two kinds of meat unless they had been told. As a result of the experiment catering establishments are using more dried meat. —P.A. Special Correspondent.
