Montreal reports that a small Norj wegian freighter has arrived at a | Canadian port after destroying an ] enemy submarine in the Atlantic. It j brought captured survivors of the U- | boat to Canada Details cannot be ! disclosed. The United States Navy Department announced that a medium-sized United States merchantman was torpedoed and shelled 70 miles from the coast of Brazil. A medium-sized British vessel met with a similar fate 200 miles from the southern coast of the United States. Tw*enty-four survivors of the American ship have reached Brazil after drifting for 24 hours, and one member of the crew was lost. Four members of the crew of the British vessel were killed. Sixty-four took to three lifeboats, and one boat has reached short with 20 survivors, but the others are missing.—P.A.
