J An announcement that petrol coupon t No. 15 would be available for May but - would entitle motorists to only half the face value of the coupon was made last night by the Minister of Supply, M«- Sullivan. 7 "The whole matter has been very 1 carefully considered by the War Cabi--1 net: said Mr Sullivan, "and the run--1 servalion of our stocks of petrol remains one of vital importance, lluwever, the War Cabinet also feels that * it is desirable, if possible, to allow motorists enough petrol to keep their c cars mobile, and it is with this object e that the half ration will enable the motorists to do approximately 40 miles - for the month, and is equivalent to the 2 present ration allowed to the private 1 motorist in Great Britain ” ? Mr Sullivan added that the petrol f position had deteriorated overseas t since the April ration was made. This . would seriously affect future supplies f to this and other countries, and it. was e essential to hold adequate reserves of : motor spirit to meet emergency needs 2 for defence, industry and produefio Hence the half coupon for May.-—P.A. / ■
