PRICE OF CHAR
INVESTIGATION TO BE MADE [From Our Own Parliamentary Reporter] Wellington, This Day. Would the Minister take steps to enable motorists using producer-gas installations to purchase char at a reasonable price? asked Mr W. J. Broadfoot (National. Waitomo) in the House of Representatives yesterday. He said that at the end of December, 1941, char was delivered at Frankton Junction at £3 18s 6d a ton, while to-day it was costing £8 2s. The Minister of Supply (Mr Sullivan) said that the only increase in the price !of char authorised by tihe Price Trij bunal was 28s a ton. and he would ask the Tribunal to investigate the position a* Frankton.
