BATH BOMBED AGAIN
LUFTWAFFE’S REVENGE RAID Although the Luftwaffe's revenge raid on Bath last night was not so prolonged as that of the previous night, it was a very sharp one. On Saturday night enemy raiders came in singly, but last night there were small groups of aircraft over the town. They also appeared to be heavier bombers. Several sf rious fir sprang up soon after the raid began. British night fighters met seme of the raiders as they approached the town, forcing them to turn away and drop thei; bombs on the open countryside. A.R.P. workers, police, soldiers and the Home Guard worked throughout the night extricating people ti om wrecked houses and also fighting fires.—B.O.W. SERIOUS FIRLS (Rec 12 35 p.m.) Loudon, April 27. The German air raid on Bath last night caused serious fires in the centre of the town. There was a large number of casualties when a bomb hit a shelter Emergency services in the Bath area quickly went into operation Ministry of Pensions officials from Bristol and Exeter immediately rushed to Bath, where they interviewed relatives of the victims amid the ruins, and special temporary allowances of 50s were made on the spot Mobile kitchens and canteens operating in the Bath area are .supplying the needs of rescue squads, fire fighters, first aid parties police and hundreds of homeless people.—P.A.
