WOMEN’S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION
The month of March proved a busy one for the Women’s Christian Tern-' perance Union. The monthly meeting j held at the beginning of the month was j well attended, despite the unpleasant weather. Mrs H. Atmore. who was the, speaker for the afternoon, was welcomed by the president Mrs Toomer. and gave a splendid address on the Union's motto, “For God, Home and Humanity.” Later in the afternoon Mrs Atmore presented the long-service badges to the following members: For 30 years’ service, Mrs Edmonds. Mrs Ross, Mrs Hunter; for 20 years’ service, Mrs J. H. Walker. Miss Cooke, Mrs Kirby, Mrs Blick Mrs Scott, Mrs A. T Jones. Mrs Borrough. Mrs Bell. Mrs Kidson. Mrs F. Cooke, Mrs Holloway Mrs Gnob. Mrs Dyke-Marsh kindly consented to give some ’cello solos, these being well received, and both Mrs Dyke-Marsh and her accompanist. Miss Tucker, received a hearty vote' of thanks. In closing, Mrs. Toomer thanked Mr. 1 Atmore for her address. During the month the Union was re-! 1 sponsible for the Patriotic Shop, which j 1 had done splendidly. Mrs J. H. Walker, i, who was in charge, praised the co- : operation and loyalty given by the I members.
