NEW BLOOD SUBSTITUTE FOR I TRANSFUSIONS London, Feb. 17.—-According to the Berlin correspondent of the Stockholm newspaper “Dagens Nyheter,” the Germans are using a new blood substitute for transfusions which is claimed to be suitable for all groups and merely mixed with water before injection. TRIAL OPENED AT WASHINGTON Washington, Feb. 17.—The trial opened of George Sylvester Viereck, the alleged master mind of German propaganda in the United States. Viereck was accused of making false statements to the State Department when registering as a foreign agent. The Government alleges that Viereck received 40.000 dollars yearly for propaganda activities. WELDERS TO RESUME WORK Seattle. Feb. 17.—The strike of 1180 welders in the Tacoma shipyard has been called off. After a meeting last night the strikers decided to resume full work to-day. COOK’S TOURS London, Feb.
