ENEMY COLUMNS OVER WIDE AREA (Rec. 9.45 a.in.) Rugby, Feb. 16. 1 A Cairo communique states: Throughout yesterday enemy columns containing armoured vehicles were in contact with our patrols over a wide front from the coastal area west of Gazala to about 40 miles south of that place. There was : fair amount of shelling on both sides i but no close encounters took place. Our fighters and bojnbers effectively en- ( gaged the enen/y both by low-flying at- I tacks and bombing.—B.O.W.
