FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND si-.VERAI. PEOPLE DROWNED Brisbane, Feb. 14. Live persons were drowned and fears are entertained for the safety of many oilier* as a result <f Root* along the Burnett River. Queensland. over a distance of 206 miles, more Iba.i 2000 have been made homeless, thousands ot cattle have been drowned, and large tracts of cane crops have been rie*-troyed. Damage is estimated at C1,000,00®. At Bundabcrg. where the river rose nearly :52 bet all wharf beds and 0000 ton ol Mo red sugar were swept away. Water rose to the second floor of the hotel at the out!) of Bundaberg. Airmen from a training school assisted police and civilians in the work of reseting people marooned.
